About the Role
The Feed Mill Operator is responsible for producing high-quality feed by operating computerized batching systems, handling raw ingredients, and maintaining accurate production records. This role involves working with both automated equipment and manual processes to ensure feed is mixed and delivered according to company standards. The operator must follow established procedures, uphold safety protocols, and support overall mill efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
-Operate computerized feed manufacturing systems to mix and batch feed according to formulations.
-Monitor equipment for accuracy, quality, and efficiency; adjust or troubleshoot machinery as needed.
-Load and unload ingredients, including lifting and stacking ingredient bags (typically up to 50 lbs).
-Assist with receiving, inspecting, and storing raw materials.
-Follow quality control procedures to ensure feed meets regulatory and internal standards.
-Complete documentation such as batch sheets, production logs, inventory records, and QA forms.
-Maintain traceability and ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and on time.
-Perform basic equipment maintenance and sanitation of machinery and production areas.
-Maintain a clean, safe work environment; follow all safety protocols and report issues promptly.
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Prior experience in feed milling, agriculture, manufacturing, or industrial operations is a plus (but not required for entry-level candidates).
Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly and work in dusty, noisy, or varying-temperature environments.
Basic computer skills and ability to learn automated systems/software.
Strong attention to detail, especially in documentation and quality control.
Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment operation and maintenance.
Commitment to safety, teamwork, and reliable work performance.
